Silent Auction Items!

Here are a few photos of the items up to bid on for the clay fund-raiser (May 26th, 6:00-7:30 @ WMS)!

We have 2 recycled chandeliers made by the students!
They are bright, playful, and good for the environment. They look very Chihuly.

We also have ceramic wall hanging planters up for bid/sale.
(They have not been painted/glazed in the photos.)
I made each planter to house very special tropic air plants called Tillandsias.
The plants are not shown, but will be included with the planter.
Air plants do not grow in soil & only require a dip in water every week and a half.

Please come and support the WMS art program.

Hello everyone!

The Susan Lorenz Art Show just took place at the high school. It is a community wide show where all students and community members may participate.  The winning piece was by a 6th grader here at WMS! Check out some of the great pieces shown! Entries could be created in class, at home, or with a private instructor. We have so much talent here at WCS!
The winning art. It was purchased and will hang in our halls permanently.

Keep in mind these are only a few of the 98 pieces entered! Thank you everyone for taking time to enter your pieces.

Sock Monsters!

8th grade created these sock monsters! They learned to sew using 3 different stitches. Each student made 2 monsters. One to keep, and one to send to soldiers in Afghanistan. Our students worked so hard knowing that these monsters would cheer up those protecting us over seas.

Feb. update!

Previous Art Students Need To Pick Up Their Art Tomorrow!! :)

6th grade has finished their projects on Op Art and they are up hanging in the halls. They have started a project on the poem Crazy Hair. They should be done in the next week!

7th grade finished their cubism and Medieval tapestries projects. They have just started a lesson on African masks and the role they play within different tribe's cultures.

8th grade finished a project about color. Students explored how they would explain colors using all the senses except sight. They created poetry and art based on their writing. 8th graders are currently learning about the Chinese New Year and creating large paper dragons like those used during the dragon dance in the Lantern Festival.
